DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 6\, 2022\nThe DeAngelo Williams Foundation presents the 3rd annual 53 Strong DeAthlon being held in Waxhaw\, NC. The DeAngelo Williams Foundation’s “DeAthlon” isn’t your typical duathlon\, it’s a run-bike-FUN event! \nThe 53 Strong DeAthlon is the creation of DeAngelo’s love-hate relationship with running and cycling combined with his passion for a little fun and games. \nDeAthletes will participate in a 3.4 mile run followed by their choice of one of three different bike ride distances. Not ready for both the run and bike together? You can also sign up to sole-ly run the 5K or just choose one of the bike routes. \n**New Location Alert** \nEvent Address: Marvin Ridge High School\, 2825 Crane Road\, Waxhaw NC \nThe Run \nThe run is a traditional 5k race that will begin at 7:00AM. \nThe Bicycle Rides \nFor the bicycle ride\, you can choose between three different routes: \nThe Tiger Tail 20 Mile Ride\n-includes one rest stop\, one timed segment \nThe Carolina Cruise 34 Mile Ride\n-includes one rest stop\, two timed segments \nThe Legacy Length 53 Mile Ride\n-includes two rest stops\, three timed segments \nAll three routes will start at 8:00am (DeAthletes can start any time after their run). All routes will be clearly marked and will have sag support for all participants. The rest stop locations will have water\, electrolyte drinks\, and snacks/goodies. \nThe DeAthlon \nThe DeAthlon consists of the 3.4 mile run followed by either a 20 mile\, 34 mile\, or a 53 mile bike ride … all with a memory game along the bike route that will test your mind\, body\, and sole (ya see what we did there?) We will combine the time of the run and the timed segments to crown the DeAthlon champions. Top three males and top three females for each distance will receive a custom DeAthlon football signed and awarded by DeAngelo Williams. \nThe Cause \nAll proceeds from the 53 Strong DeAthlon benefits The DeAngelo Williams Foundation’s 53 Strong for Sandra program. Through this program\, DeAngelo provides life-saving mammography screenings to women in our communities that are uninsured and under-served.
